I survived the two classes

Hello again,
Well, I survived the two classes I took at the Salt Lake Community College. I took a class called Marriage and Family Experience which covered everything from birthin' babies to divorce and everything in between. I had to write a page or two on twenty-three topics for the chapters we studied. Three points was possible for each paper and I got three on all of the papers, but I also got a plus or a plus, plus and most of them so I was able to get 100% on the written assign-ments which was 40% of my grade. I also took five tests and got B+ on one of them and A's on the rest so I ended the semester with an A in the class.

The other class I took was Children's Literature. It was very challenging. I was supposed to have taken a pre-requisite before taking the class but I figured that 45 years ago I had taken Basic Communications (writing, speech and grammar all rolled up together) so I was okay to take the Children's Lit class. I had to write ten one page reports on topics from the text book, six one to two page responses to articles we were assigned to read that were posted on the internet, five book reviews - Not just book reports - they had to be very comprehensive and cover specific topics such as symbolism or archetypes (I didn't even know what an archetype was until I took this class. I rewrote two of the book reviews because I wasn't satisfied with the grade I'd gotten. I got A's on the rewritten reviews - yeah! I had to do a design as if I was illustrating a book or story. I did mine on The Milkmaid who "counted her chickens before they were hatched." It turned out really cute and I also got an A on that project. The most intimi-dating assignment was the final project. It was a ten minute presentation on one of the subjects we had been studying. I gave mine on and author and illustrator I liked - Don and Audrey Wood. I also had to write a 10 to 15 page research paper for the presentation and my teacher suggested I do a power point presentation. I, of course didn't know how but I learned and did fairly well. I got a B for the project and an A in the class. Yippee!!!

I've been really busy with many other activities as well as school. I went to Missouri with my dad in September which was really fun. I got re-acquainted with my cousin Carolyn Sue who I visited when I was growing up. We also saw many uncles and aunts that I hadn't seen in years. We went to Branson, Missouri and saw the production - Noah's Ark. It was really fabulous. The stage which was like the inside of the ark, wrapped around the seats and had live and animated animals. It was a musical and was wonderful.

Since I learned how to "design" in my Children's literature class, I'll have to learn to "design this blog so that it's more interesting but until I get a little advise from Julia, this is going to have to do.
So Long until next time.
